Finally, a place where moms can dance and grow stronger without the pressure of keeping up with others in class.

After we have kids, our bodies are just different. Our bodies have become everything for someone else - a source of nourishment, a safe place, a home - and now it’s time to come back to ourselves for restoration with other moms who just ‘get it’.

This isn’t another mom and tot group.

Like A Mother dance classes aren’t just about dancing - they’re designed to meet you where you’re at right now. With a warm up and cool down created specifically for mothers to be able to be fully present and strengthen their core and pelvic floor safely, you’ll leave feeling empowered and reconnected with the woman you are beneath it all.

Like A Mother dance classes are for you if you’re:

✔️ At least 6 weeks postpartum and ready to return to exercise in a safe and supportive way

✔️ Wanting to be a part of the village and get to know other mothers in the community

✔️ Dreaming of a way to feel reconnected to yourself and the person you are outside of being a mother - without sacrificing the motherhood piece of you while you do it

Meet Nikita 


Hi!

I’m Nikita, a 30-something mom of two, lifelong dancer, and educator who believes confidence is something you practice, not something you’re born with. I’ve been dancing for over 25 years and teaching for most of my adult life, working at the intersection of movement, mindset, and self-belief.

By day, I’m a special education teacher in the public school system. By passion, I’m a certified pre- and post-natal fitness instructor, certified heels dance instructor, and lifelong student and teacher of hip hop, helping people to reconnect with their bodies in ways that feel strong, safe, and empowering.

Like A Mother was created for women who want to feel more at home in themselves. Through dance classes and lifestyle workshops, my goal is simple: to help you rebuild real confidence after having kids, take up space without apology, and step into your own light with support and intention.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never danced before. Can I take Like A Mother dance classes?

Absolutely! Like A Mother dance classes are beginner-friendly, inclusive, not intimidating, and designed especially for women who haven’t danced in years or ever. The movement is thoughtfully planned out to support postpartum core and pelvic floor strengthening and to meet you where you are at in your postpartum fitness journey.

I’m a mom with limited time. Is this realistic for my schedule?

I know how hard it is to carve out time for yourself. I commit to starting and ending on time, always coming prepared, and making sure the time you spend in this community is meaningful.

Can I bring my child(ren)? Do you offer childminding while class is happening?

Unfortunately, we have no childcare options at this time. Classes take place in a busy dance studio and there is nowhere for little ones to wait while your class takes place. We ask that you find childcare outside of the studio or workshop so that you can be fully present in the space and take this time for yourself.

How much does it cost? Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, we do offer flexible pricing. I believe every mother deserves the opportunity to make time for herself and be part of the village, and never want finances to be the reason someone doesn’t join us.

Single Class Drop-In: $22 + GST

A limited number of sliding-scale registrations are available for 6-week dance sessions and full workshop packages. Payment plans are also available for regular full-price registrations.

Is this only for moms, or can non-moms join too?

Like A Mother dance classes and lifestyle workshops were designed with moms in mind. Language used in classes and workshops will be directed at mothers and the demands of parenthood however, we are an inclusive company and the more the merrier in any of our dance classes! Like A Mother dance classes might be for you if you are recovering from an abdominal surgery or require pelvic floor support and would benefit from a slower paced, core-restorative focused dance class.
